about us > Stephanie

Hi my name is Stephanie Fulton and I’m 15 years old and attend St Columba’s High School. I’ve been going to the Deaf Club for about one year and a half and it has been great meeting other deaf people. In December last year I was at a Quiz night with my deaf club and at the end of the night Kay told me and my mum about a group of young people getting the chance to go to Poland in the Summer. It sound interesting but I wasn’t interested in it then. I didn’t want to give it a go but eventually in the end I thought to give it ago.

I had to go to a Selection Night with about 25 other people but I thought that I wouldn’t get chosen as some of them as they were so confident. But I saw a few people that I knew so I thought I would be okay if I talked to them this gave me more confidence. I then started to talk to most of the other people which was good. It was a good wee night and I thought I might not get chosen but

it was worth a try. Two days later I got a letter from them and they had chosen me to go! I was dead happy, excited and glad that I did do it and I was hoping the other ones got chosen but one of them didn’t which was a bit upsetting.

On the first night of the meeting I was nervous as I had to meet 13 others that were also chosen to go as well it took a wee while to get to know them all and talk to them. At first we were heading to Poland but then we were told it was going to be Turkey because of someone left their job in Poland and Mark had to find another place to go to so he found Turkey which was quite good. It is getting exciting going to Turkey as everyone can’t wait to go, I am to. Now its not long till I’m away as its Sunday but Sadly 3 people have dropped out because of the stuffs and work they were doing so its 10 of us going now. It will be a great experience to do. We are going to Turkey for one week then Paris for five days. We’ll post some photos to the deaf club when we come back.

So don’t worry about me when you’re stuck in rainy Greenock I’ll be topping up my suntan!!!
